Mince pies
Ingredients List
- 250g cooking apples
- 100g suet (vegetable or other)
- 400g mix of dried fruit, raisins, sultanas
- 200g dark muscovado or molasses sugar
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 25g toasted sliced almonds
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons allspice
- nutmeg
- 75ml brandy to preference
Method
- add suet, dried fruit, sugar, nuts and spices into a large bowl
- peel and and core the apples, grate them into the bowl
- grate zest of orange and lemon into bowl, then squeeze out juice of both into mixture
- mix throughly
- simmer in a pan for ten minutes, then let cool
- add brandy and transfer to an in airtight container in the fridge
- Oven at 200 bake for 10-15 minutes
